Hyderabad Metro has announced new smart card passes for the convenience of students from July 1 onwards. Students can buy the cards to avail of 30 trips across all fare zones by paying for just 20 trips.
N V S Reddy, managing director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) and K V B Reddy, managing director and CEO of L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited, launched the Student Pass-2023 offer at Ameerpet Metro station Saturday.
Students born after April 1, 1998 are eligible to avail of the pass. The trip pass validity is for 30 days from the date of purchase. The offer is available for nine months from July 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024 and only one smart card will be issued per student.
The passes can be purchased at the stations from 11 am to 5 pm. On the Red Line, it will be available at JNTU College, SR Nagar, Ameerpet, Victoria Memorial and Dilsukhnagar stations; on the Green Line, it can be bought at Narayanguda station, and on the Blue Line at Nagole, Parade Grounds, Begumpet and Raidurg stations.
“The offer is part of our continued efforts to serve young metro rail passengers with the best value for money travel option. We are happy to introduce this exclusive pass for students. Students will enjoy their travel even better now,” N V S Reddy said.
“HMRL is our city’s most trusted, eco-friendly, and comfortable mode of transport, and our endeavour has always been to push our limits to serve passengers with pocket-friendly and convenient travel options,” K V B Reddy said.
On purchasing a pass, students would also get discount coupons of various retail brands associated with Hyderabad Metro such as 24Seven convenience stores, Reliance Trends, etc. For details on the pass and its terms and conditions, log on to http://www.ltmetro.com.
To a query, NVS Reddy told The Indian Express that students form the largest group of metro rail users. “About 1.20 lakh students use metro rail per day, out of the total ridership of about 4.90 lakh passengers. They are next only to IT/ITES employees who fall under the number 1 category (1.40 lakh),” he said.
