A day after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal hailed it for the “excellent performance” of students from Delhi government schools in the CBSE class X and XII Board exams, both the BJP and the Congress said the AAP’s “education model” had been exposed through the results.

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva alleged that the results had brought to the fore the hollowness of AAP government’s claims of improving the city’s education system over eight years.

Congress Delhi chief Chaudhary Anil Kumar sought to argue that the “false narrative” had been punctured given the dip in the pass percentage.

“Covid affected the education system of the whole country, but while Chennai, Trivandrum and Bangalore maintained the education level by introducing extra classes, due to the negligence of Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, Delhi results have fallen and the city has ranked 13th in the country in the 10th class result,” Sachdeva alleged.

“In the past eight years, CM Arvind Kejriwal, former education minister Manish Sisodia and present education minister Atishi, instead of improving the education structure of government schools, have turned them into event management venues,” he alleged.

Kumar flagged as a matter of concern that the pass rate of Class XII in Delhi government schools had dipped by 5.38 percentage points and the number of students who scored above 90 per cent and 95 per cent also declined compared to last year.

The government did not comment on the allegations.
