Tamil Nadu Weather Update Today: Tamil Nadu is being lashed by rain as a cyclonic circulation moves up from the South Bay of Bengal. As per the latest update by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai, the IMD has issued a red alert for two districts and orange alert for eight.

Which districts are in the red zone?
The red alert has been issued for Thiruvallur and Ranipet, while the orange alert remains in place for Salem, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Tirupathur, Krishnagiri, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, and Chennai.
“The sky condition is likely to be generally cloudy. Light/Moderate rain with Thunderstorm and Lightning is likely,” states the latest forecast from IMD. For Wednesday, the forecast reads: “Squally weather with wind speed reaching 45 kmph to 55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is likely to prevail along and off North Tamil Nadu coast-Puducherry-South Andhra Pradesh coasts and adjoining sea areas. Squally weather with wind speed reaching 35 kmph to 45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is likely to prevail along and off South Tamil Nadu coast, over Gulf of Mannar and Comorin area.”
Similar conditions are expected on Thursday along the coasts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh coasts over Gulf of Mannar and Comorin areas. The IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea in these two days.
