Three youths involved in snatchings, robberies held

The Mohali police has arrested three youths involved in multiple incidents of snatching and theft, recovering 16 mobile phones, two motorcycles and one scooter from their possession.

DSP (City-1) Prithvi Singh Chahal said the arrests were made by the Phase-1 police station during a special drive launched on the directions of SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans to curb rising cases of thefts and snatchings in Mohali city.

He said that under the supervision of the Phase-1 SHO, Inspector Sukhbir Singh, a police team set up a checkpoint near ESI Hospital, Industrial Area, Phase-7. During checking, the team apprehended Satnam Kumar, alias Sunny, Ars Ali, alias Munna, both residents of Desumajra, and Karan, alias Bhola, a resident of Sunny Enclave, Kharar. A stolen motorcycle was recovered from them on the spot.

A case under relevant sections of the BNS, including sections 304 and 3(5), was registered and the accused were arrested. After obtaining police remand, further interrogation led to the recovery of 16 snatched mobile phones, two motorcycles, and one Activa from various locations, all linked to previous theft and snatching cases.

Police said the operation is part of an ongoing crackdown to make the city safer by neutralising active snatching gangs.
