Stock trading fraud: Man accused of duping Panchkula resident held

During custody, the police will investigate his bank accounts and associates to expose the entire network.

The Cyber Crime Police Station team of Panchkula has arrested a person allegedly involved in a case of duping a Panchkula resident of Rs 19.13 lakh on the pretext of stock trading.

As per the police, the complainant, who works in Pinjore, informed the police that on March 21, 2024, an unidentified person added him to a WhatsApp group and tricked him into downloading an app through which his personal information was accessed. Later, the accused lured him with stock trading tips and cheated him of Rs 19.13 lakh. A case was thus registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station.

Probing the matter, the Panchkula Cyber Cell arrested the accused Ratan Lal Meena, a resident of Rajasthan, on September 19.
DCP (Crime) Manpreet Singh Sudan said cybercriminals are adopting new techniques every day, and citizens must remain alert. He added that the police are relentlessly tracking such fraudsters.

Tthe accused was produced before the court and sent to six-day police remand. During custody, the police will investigate his bank accounts and associates to expose the entire network.
