Anger is brewing among residents after TDI City was excluded from the newly proposed limits of the Mohali Municipal Corporation, as per the Punjab government’s notification issued on October 21, 2025.
A joint meeting of 20 resident associations from sectors 74A, 92, 116, 117, 118, and 119 was held on Saturday at TDI Club Retreat, Sector 74A, where members criticised the decision. The meeting unanimously passed a resolution stating that “the Punjab government has unjustly kept TDI City out of the corporation limits without any valid reason”.
The associations decided to meet local MLA Kulwant Singh on Sunday, October 26, at 10 am to seek clarification on the government’s move. They warned that if the response was unsatisfactory, the residents would launch a mass protest outside the MLA’s office on October 29 (Wednesday), carrying banners and placards.
The participants resolved that if the government or representatives of the Aam Aadmi Party, including MLAs or MPs, fail to ensure TDI City’s inclusion within the municipal limits, the residents would boycott the party and display protest banners across the township.
All the associations also agreed to submit written objections to the Mohali Municipal Corporation by October 27, and to seek support from former minister Balbir Singh Sidhu and Mayor Amarjit Singh Sidhu.
Concluding the meeting, the representatives pledged to continue their united struggle until TDI City is incorporated within Mohali’s municipal boundaries, even if it means approaching the Governor or the Punjab and Haryana High Court for justice.
