Punjab CM inaugurates Brahmakumari global fest

The increasing cases of female foeticide,drug addiction and strained relationships in society need to be checked,” said Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal,while inaugurating the Global Festival for Receiving God’s Powers and Blessings,orgainsed by the Brahmakumari sect at Sector 34 on Sunday evening.

The chief minister appreciated the teachings and services of Brahma Kumaris.

He also spoke about the need to spread peace and strengthen moral values through programmes of universal brotherhood and religious harmony.

Justice A N Jindal of Punjab and Haryana High Court,Chetan Aggarwal,district governor of Rotary International,Harjinder Kaur,former mayor of Chandigarh,and Punjabi actor Mehar Mittal were the guests of honour at the function.

In her address,Rajyogini Prem Lata Didi,chairperson of the religious wing of Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation and director of the Uttrakhand branches,said,“God’s powers can transform the present ailing world. Individuals,when transformed,become examples and torch bearers for the rest of humanity which is searching for enlightenment.”

Rajyogini Achal Didi,zonal head of the sect,stressed on the need for practice of spiritual knowledge,human values and rajyoga meditation for dealing with stress,depression,drug addiction and other psycho-somatic diseases.

Senior management consultant Anthony Phelips,who had especially flown in from the United Kingdom,inspired the gathering to remain happy in all circumstances. Senior Rajyoga teacher B K Sister Jacqueline Berg from Holland said,“Developing spiritual powers is essential to fight negative forces of fear,jealously,hatred and violence,and for restoring peace,progress,harmony and happiness in society.”

Rajyogi Brahama Kumar Amir Chand,national vice-chairperson of the social service wing,also spoke on the occasion.

All the guests were honored with souvenirs presented by Brahma Kumaris. The congregation was also enthralled by cultural programmes comprising spiritual and patriotic songs and dances.
