Doctor and helper booked under BNS

The FIR names the centre’s owner and helper for causing injuries during treatment.A retired Punjab AIG alleged that his wife’s rib was fractured during a therapy session at a Zirakpur acupressure centre, prompting the police to register a case.

A case has been registered against the owner of Advance Acupressure Naturopathy Therapy Centre & Institute, Dr S S Gill, and his helper Manoj for allegedly fracturing the chest bone of the wife of a former Punjab AIG (jails) during a therapy session. The FIR has been filed under sections 125( A ) (B) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on the complaint of retired AIG (Jails) Prem Sagar Sharma.

Sharma, a resident of house no. 914, Sagar Street No. 9, New Sullar, Patiala, and who retired from the post of AIG (Jails) in 2016, told the police that his 67-year-old wife, Uma Sharma, had been suffering from pain in her left shoulder. He took her to the therapy centre located on High Ground Road, Nabha Sahib Shopping Complex, Zirakpur, where they were advised to undergo a five-day treatment.

On June 27, 2025, Sharma brought his wife for therapy. He alleged that a helper called Manoj placed his foot below her left shoulder and applied a sudden, forceful jerk, causing her to scream loudly in pain. The centre staff reportedly told them that she needed “rest for the entire day,” but her condition worsened due to severe chest pain.

Sharma then got an X-ray done at Delta Lab, which revealed a fracture in her chest (rib). She was later admitted to Singla Hospital, Patiala, for further treatment. After his complaint, the police conducted an inquiry and registered the case.
