Firing outside Ludhiana house: Absconding gangster Newton, aides booked after CCTV visual goes viral

Newton, who is booked and wanted in multiple cases, including the murder of a woman, put a video on social media on June 25, alleging that the police had implicated his wife in a false murder case.

In February last year, his two aides were arrested with six illegal weapons which were allegedly supplied from Madhya Pradesh on Newton’s directions when he was lodged in the Nabha jail. He allegedly used Instagram to strike the weapons deal, the police had said.

In his June 25 video, he offered to surrender “if the police released his wife”. Newton also alleged that the police would soon kill him in a fake encounter. He warned the police that if they did not free his wife from the murder case, he would smuggle more weapons and would teach them a lesson. He also added that he was trying to return to the mainstream for the sake of his family and daughter, but the police were dragging him and his family members in fake cases.

On April 7, Newton and his aides allegedly barged into Navi’s house in the Dugri area and assaulted the residents, including an 80-year-old woman. The Dugri police lodged an attempted murder case against the assailants. Later, the police added murder sections in the FIR after the elderly woman died.
