Factionalism mars BJP meetings

Factionalism and complaints against each other were the order of the two-day long meetings,which concluded on Friday,held by the BJP state president with party leaders and workers from three constituencies of the city.

As BJP has a three-seat quota from Jalandhar district including Jalandhar centre,Jalandhar West and Jalandhar north assembly segments.

Aspirants of tickets from three constituencies along with their supporters met the state president Ashwani Sharma and Vice Presidents Som Prakash and Vinod Sharma.

Party sources informed that different aspirants from a seat had exchanged all bitterness with each other during the meetings with the state head. As from Jalandhar centre constituency the supporters of sitting MLA Manorajna Kalia and supporters of Mayor Rakesh Rathore levelled allegations against each other. As Kalia’s supporters said that Rathore was interfering in Kalia’s activities.

“Ultimately the state president was left with no option but to ask the party activists of this constituency to tell their choice of candidate,” said party sources.

From Jalandhar West supporters of sitting MLA Bhagat Chunni Lal’s son Mohinder Bhagat presented Bhagat’s case for candidature but it was countered by state Khadi Board chairman Vijay Sampla.

From Jalandhar north the complaints were made against sitting MLA K D Bhandari by state secretary Ravi Mahindru,district general secretary Hans Raj Chopra,said insiders adding that no one presented their case for a ticket from Jalandhar North.
