Daily Covid positivity rate in Haryana crosses 8.8%, one dies

The woman, who died due to Covid-19 was identified as a woman who had reached hospital with low-blood pressure.

The daily Covid-19 positivity rate in Haryana crossed 8.8 per cent on Monday evening. While one patient in Karnal died, at least 24 patients were hospitalised including four patients on ventilator. The woman, who died due to Covid-19 was identified as a woman who had reached hospital with low-blood pressure. She was a resident of Taraori in Karnal.

Last night, she was admitted to a private hospital with low blood pressure. When she could not recover till morning, she was referred to Kalpana Chawla Medical College of Karnal. A Rapid antigen test was conducted on her in which she tested positive for Covid-19. Subsequently, she was shifted to ICU where she died.

Karnal’s civil surgeon Dr. Yogesh Sharma said that the woman was also suffering from a heart ailment besides low blood pressure. According to state health department’s Covid-19 bulletin released on Monday evening, 161 new patients were detected in Gurgaon taking the total number of active patients in the district to 950, the highest in Haryana.

By Monday evening, there were 1905 active Covid-19 patients in Haryana. These included 325 who were tested positive on Monday. The patients who tested positive for Covid-19, Monday, include 161 in Gurgaon, 44 in Faridabad, Hisar (3), Sonipat (15), Karnal (20), Panchkula (32), Ambala (8), Panipat (3), Sirsa (3), Rohtak (2), Yamunanagar (9), Kurukshetra (7), Bhiwani (1), Rewari (1), Jhajjar (1), Fatehabad (1), Palwal (2), Charkhi Dadri (11), and Nuh (1). A total of 238 patients recovered on Monday.

85 new cases in Punjab, 3 deaths

With 85 new cases and 3 Covid deaths on Monday, the Covid tally and the toll reached 26540 and 222, respectively, in the past one year.

Of the three deaths, one each was reported from Mohali, Ferozepur and Ropar . Out of total 85 cases , 38 were reported from Mohali alone while 9 each from Ludhiana and Patiala while 8 from Jalandhar. Positivity on April 10 was 5.90% as the testing has fallen drastically yet again. On Monday only 1408 samples were collected while 1440 tests were done while on Sunday only 1242 samples were collected and 1119 tests were conducted out of which 72 were tested positive.

However Punjab health authorities had stated that they will be increasing testing upto 4200 per day looking at the positivity rate , however that was done only on one day in the last week.

HP conducts mock drill amid rising cases

Himachal Pradesh health officials conducted a mock drill across the state for covid 19 preparedness amidst rising cases. The medical preparedness was carried out in 285 health centers by National Health Mission (NHM) teams in all districts.

The positivity rate in the last week stood at 7 percent with 1764 active cases. The officials reported 8 covid 19 deaths in the previous days. The admission rate in hospitals is 1.3% with 23 patients receiving medical treatment. The mock drill has been scheduled for 10-11th April as per the direction of MoHFW, GOI, officials said.

The evaluation consists of obtaining information on bed capacities– Isolation, oxygen-supported isolation, ICU and ventilator-supported beds besides the availability of nurses, testing capacities, and medical oxygen. A total of 27022 tests were conducted in the last week with the maximum number of cases in Hamirpur (395) followed by Kangra (388) and Mandi (381). Four deceased from Shimla were in the age group 58 and 81 and were also suffering from co-morbidities. The previous such exercise was carried out in December last year.
