The driver of a Fortuner car has been arrested by the police in connection with an accident near Sector 34 on Wednesday.
Buta Singh,24,a driver by profession,was driving the car when he hit two vehicles in succession and an ice-cream cart. The driver of one of the cars was injured and admitted to PGIMER and is reportedly serious.
According to police,Singh was coming from sector 33/34 towards a small roundabout when he first hit a moped (CH 01AK 6571) whose rider suffered serious injuries. The accused,however,did not stop and then hit a Maruti (CH 03Q 1828),driven by Rohit Kumar,a resident of sector 30. The accused took a left turn from there when he crashed into an ice-cream cart stationed on the road. He still kept driving and came to a halt only as he banged against an electricity pole ahead of him.
The accused is a private driver and the car belongs to Inderjeet Singh Sidhu,a businessman,and a resident of Sector 33, said investigating officer Sohan Singh.
The accused is a resident of Mansa district and is currently residing in Sector 33. He was arrested and later released on bail. A case of accident due to rash and negligent driving has been registered in Sector 34 police station.
