Haryana Leader of Opposition and former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced a “fight to finish the ruling BJP-JJP coalition government” while addressing a huge crowd at the party’s 8th Vipaksh-Aapke-Samaksh rally in Bhiwani, Sunday. The next Vipaksh-Aapke-Samaksh rally shall be held in Hisar on Rajiv Gandhi Jayanti on August 20 Hooda said.
Calling Bhiwani a boxing capital of Asia, Hooda said, “This enthusiasm of the crowds in Bhiwani would herald an era of change not only in the region, but across Haryana. This record breaking crowd will bring prosperity in this area. My aim is not to become the Chief Minister. But, my fight is to end unemployment, inflation, crime, drug addiction from Haryana. Today every section is troubled and unhappy with this government. Somewhere the clerks, somewhere the guest teachers, somewhere the cleaning staff are sitting on dharna”.
Talking about farmers, Hooda added, “This government had promised to double the income of the farmers but rather doubled their input costs. During our government, there was no tax on fertilizers, no tax on pesticides, no tax on tractor parts. Today, there is no compensation for crop failure. Yesterday Rahul Gandhi came to the fields of Sonepat and heard the problems of the farmers. Farmers do not get MSP. The BJP government has given the Agniveer scheme to Haryana, the state of Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan. Now the youth of will be sent back home after 4 years. I assure the JCOs and jawans that I will fight for justice”.
Hooda also recalled Haryana’s former chief minister Bansi Lal while addressing the gathering. Reminding people of Congress’ 10 year tenure in Haryana, Hooda said, “Even after Chaudhary Bansi Lal, the state kept running at a fast pace of development during the 10 years of our government (2005-2014). Two universities were established in Bhiwani parliamentary constituency. Out of 35 colleges in the state, 5 were built in Bhiwani area. I ask the present government, what have they done in the entire parliamentary constituency of Bhiwani in the last nine years of their tenure”.
Announcing the Congress’ guarantee for the people of Haryana, Hooda said, “When our government comes, we shall give Rs 6000 as old age pension to the elderly, old pension scheme will be given to the employees, plots of 100 yards each will be given to poor families and a two-room house will be built on it. Cooking gas will be given to women for Rs 500 per gas cylinder. Creamy layer limit of backward class will be increased from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, PCC president Udai Bhan said, “The large crowd present here is a symbol of the fact that the storm in favour of the Congress across Haryana is turning into a Tsunami that will blow away the BJP-JJP out of this State. Today corruption is at its peak in the state. The credibility of constitutional institutions is in danger. People will have to consider if the BJP has delivered on its promises to deliver 15 lakh in every person’s account, double the income of farmers, 2 crore jobs every year, will travel in airplanes with slippers, Achche Din. Where are those promises?”.
Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Hooda too lashed out at the coalition govenrment. “People of Bhiwani have given sleepless nights to the government sitting in Chandigarh by turning out here Sunday in such large numbers, despite the work of sowing going on in the fields in the rains. When the ruling party does not listen to the voice of the public, then it becomes the responsibility of the opposition to go among the public and listen to their problems and reach the ears of the deaf government.”
