Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP from Punjab Vikramjit Singh Sahney, who has helped 15 stranded Punjabi women to return from Oman (Muscat) in the last two weeks and has initiated the process to bring back 18 more such women, has released four helpline numbers in three middle eastern countries to assist stranded women from Punjab and the rest of India.

Sahney, who is also the international president of the World Punjabi Organisation (WPO), said his Parliament office and the WPO are assisting all those who are stranded to register FIRs in various police stations in different districts of Punjab. They are also rescuing stranded women from various middle eastern countries.

Sahney said the helplines are looked after by Surjit Singh, president WPO, Abu Dhabi/ Al Ain — +971 55 612 9811, Kamaljeet Singh Matharoo, WPO president, Oman — +968 94055561, Ramneet Kaur Bhasin, Parliament office of Sahney, Delhi — +91 9910061111 and Gurbir Singh, WPO Chandigarh — +91 9711000837. “Stranded women and their families can contact the helpline numbers to seek any kind of support,” added the MP.

Sahney requested all the women who have come back to India and families of illegal immigrants who are stuck in the middle eastern countries to come forward and register their cases with the police so that the guilty can be brought to book.

He also assured all the stranded women that he will provide free-of-cost skill training to them once they come back and facilitate sustainable and dignified employment for them in Punjab itself.

The MP thanked Punjab Chief Minister and Punjab DGP for taking the needed action by establishing the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for investigating all cases of human trafficking, especially women from Punjab to middle eastern countries under visitor or employment visas and who are being exploited there.

The SIT is formed under the purview of Mission Hope, recently launched by Sahney to bring back stranded women.
