Actor Prakash Raj Saturday filed a police complaint in Mysuru against an activist for allegedly sharing an artificial intelligence-generated image of him taking a holy dip at the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj.

In a now-deleted post on Facebook, activist Prashant Sambargi posted an AI image of Prakash Raj and said, “Hope all his sins are forgiven and removed.”

After submitting his complaint to the police in Mysuru, Prakash Raj said, “I have never spoken against any religion. These people are creating religious divides. I don’t even know who Prashant Sambargi is. He has used AI technology to create my fake image and spread misinformation.”

He said, “Mahakumbh is a sacred event for Hindus and those who believe in God. However, my fake photograph is being used for political gains. For years, some individuals have been spreading rumours that I am anti-Hindu. I don’t know whether Prashant Sambargi is well-known, but spreading falsehoods about me has become routine. No one questions this kind of propaganda. These people are not true followers of religion; they only spread hatred,” he added.

Recalling winning a case against those who had previously spread falsehoods about him, Prakash Raj said, “Now, I have complained Sambargi. He has been summoned to the police station and must clarify his actions within 15 days. The public deserves to know the truth. Fake news is destroying society, and those responsible should be held accountable,” he said.

The actor alleged that Sambargi had a similar history of troubling others. “He harassed actresses in the past. Such individuals must be stopped. No one should use someone’s image without consent. It is an unforgivable offence,” he said.

Speaking about faith, Prakash Raj said, “Faith is a personal choice. I do not believe in God, but I believe in humanity. One can live without God, but not without fellow humans. I do not question faith but oppose superstition. My wife and daughter visit temples and perform rituals, and I respect their beliefs.”
