Winter chill grips Gujarat, Vadodara coldest at 14 degrees C

As winter sets in, Vadodara recorded 14 degrees Celsius on Sunday, the lowest minimum temperature in the state, lower than Naliya (14.2 degree Celsius) – usually the coldest centre in the state. Vadodara’s temperature was the highest departure of 4.9 degrees from the normal minimum temperature across the state.

On Saturday, Gandhinagar was the coldest with 14 degrees Celsius while Naliya recorded 15.4 degree Celsius and Ahmedabad 14.7 degrees Celsius.

Other centers which recorded minimum temperatures on Sunday were Gandhinagar 14.5, Keshod at 14.7 degrees Celsius and Mahuva at 14.3 degrees Celsius. Ahmedabad recorded the minimum temperature of 15.3 degree Celsius followed by Deesa and Rajkot at 15.5 and Kandla Airport at 15.8 degree Celsius.

An India Meteorological Department (IMD) release on Sunday said that “no large change in minimum temperature is expected during the next seven days”.

The maximum or the day time temperatures too recorded lower than the normal. The maximum temperatures hovered between 29 (Okha) to 33.2 degrees Celsius (Rajkot) in the state on Sunday.
