Wherever Rahul’s Nyay yatra goes, Congress suffers setback, says BJP

A day after Consgress president Mallikarjun Kharge blamed BJP’s “double-engine misgovernance” for the high suicide rate in Gujarat, BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi slammed Kharge on Saturday, saying he should “worry about Congress’ affairs” as party leader Rahul Gandhi’s Nyay Jodo Yatra has been “bringing setbacks” to the party.

Trivedi, a Rajya Sabha MP, was in Kheda district to interact with BJP’s election management and core committees ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

Speaking to mediapersons, Trivedi said, “In any untoward incident, the Gujarat government under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is sensitive and efficient in dealing with the issue… The Congress’ allegations against the BJP, and specifically the government of Gujarat, is not (recent)… for about 30 years, Congress has been making allegations against the Gujarat government.”

“Since 2001, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat, the Congress has been making allegations even after a 2011 US Congressional Report hailed then Gujarat CM Modiji as the best example of effective governance in India and also called him incorruptible… Kharge should worry about his own party’s governance…,” he added.

He further said that Rahul Gandhi’s ongoing Nyay Jodo Yatra has been bringing a series of “setbacks for the Congress, wherever it goes”. “Khargeji is the Congress president but the yatra is being held by one MP (Rahul Gandhi), who is neither the president nor the vice president, leader of the party or a general secretary,” said Trivedi.

He added: “I want to draw Khargeji’s attention to facts. When the yatra began in Guwahati, (Congress leader Milind) Deora quit the party. When he (Gandhi) reached West Bengal, Didi (CM Mamata Banerjee) turned away. When he reached Jharkhand, the government got saved by the chief minister. When he reached Bihar, one of the founders of their alliance left them in a lurch and withdrew… when he entered Uttar Pradesh, the Rashtriya Lok Dal joined the NDA.”

“He finalises a seat-sharing arrangement with the Samajwadi Party, and the next day, SP MPs cross voted… now he is about to approach Himachal Pradesh and there is a pandemonium in the state. So, I will suggest that Kharge should save the Himachal government and take care of his own party’s affairs, as the yatra is proceeding…,” said Trivedi.

He further said that BJP has taken a pledge to win 370 seats on its own and over 400 seats as part of the NDA in the Lok Sabha polls. “We will start with the booth level and meet organisational leaders to discuss issues at hand and strengthen the party. Thus, I am here in Kheda today,” he said.
