Modi’s ‘iron men’ to fan out across country for collecting statue tools

Nitin Patel will go to UP,while Revenue Minister Anandi Patel has been assigned Maharashtra.

The entire Narendra Modi ministry,backed by teams of IAS,IPS and IFS officers,will fan out across the country from first week of December to accelerate iron collection drive for the BJP prime ministerial candidate’s pet project Statue Of Unity.

Seen as proxy campaign by Modi to mobilise farmers,the drive will start from December 15,which is only couple of months before the crucial general elections slated for mid of next year.

“From first week of December,all the ministers will leave for respective states that they have been assigned,” said state government spokesperson and Finance Minister Nitin Patel,adding,“A team of officials including IAS,IPS,IFS and representatives of social organisations,local bodies will also accompany them.”

Patel will go to Uttar Pradesh,while Revenue Minister Anandi Patel has been assigned Maharashtra. Karnataka will be looked after by Energy Minister Saurabh Patel. Another senior minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasma will be visiting Punjab and Haryana. Agriculture Minister Babu Bokhiriya,who has been convicted in illegal mining case,will go to Kerala. Minister of State for Education Vasu Trivedi has been given charge of Himachal Pradesh. West Bengal will be covered by Jayanti Kavadia,Tamilnadu by Rajnikant Patel,Andhra Pradesh by Pradeepsinh Jadeja,Jharkhand by Jaydrathsinh Parmar,Uttrakhand by Nanu Vanani,Assam by Ramanlal Vora,Orissa by Ganpantsinh Vasava and Goa by Parbat Patel.

According to sources,each Cabinet minister will be accompanied by a team of total 11 members to coordinate with local BJP workers in all states to collect iron equipment used in farming.

Modi has announced to collect one equipment from each 7 lakh villages in India to build world’s tallest 182-metre statue to pay tribute to the iron man of India – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

“The groups will soon decide their schedule,” state finance minister Patel. The NGOs and other social groups have already been roped in. There will be total 36 centres across India where the collected pieces of iron will be gathered before sending to Gujarat.

The iron collection centres will be places like Gujarat government offices,public units and corporations outside the state. The state government has planned to collect 5,000 tonne iron during this drive.
