MLAs’ cricket tournament begins in Gandhinagar

MLAs of opposition Congress are not participating in the tournament.

With the Gujarat Assembly in session, Youth, Sports and Cultural Activities Department of the Gujarat government has organised a cricket tournament for MLAs. The tournament —Swarnim Gujarat MLA Cricket League — was inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel at a private cricket ground near Koba in Gandhinagar on Monday.

Ten teams of MLAs are participating in the tournament where the teams have been named after various rivers of Gujarat — Sabarmati, Narmada, Saraswati, Shetrunji, Tapi, Vishwamitri, Mahisagar,Banas and Bhadar. A team of journalists is also participating in the tournament.

Patidar youth leader and Viramgam MLA Hardik Patel is the captain of team Narmada, while the Sabarmati team is led by Thakor community leader and Gandhingar (South) MLA Alpesh Thakor.

The tournament will conclude on March 28. MLAs of opposition Congress are not participating in the tournament.
