At a public event of the Anjana-Chaudhary community at Adalaj in Gandhinagar on Sunday, one of the invitees Swami Sachchidanand spoke on the progress made by the community in the past 50 years. Then, emphasising the importance of Raaj Satta in the progress of a community, he said, “Today, you are witnessing how our Yogi has swept Uttar Pradesh. To convert Gunda Raaj into Ram Raaj in true sense is indeed the establishment of Ram Rajya. And it cannot be done without Raaj Satta.” Though he did not mention any specific instance, his comments received huge applause with some even chanting, “Jai Shri Ram”. On Saturday night, gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead by some persons while the two were being escorted by UP police.

Several people embraced Buddhism at an event conducted by a private organisation of Dalits in Gandhinagar on April 14. The event, according to sources, had the presence of unusually high number of officials from the central and subsidiary units of the Intelligence Bureau, apart from thousands of Dalits from across the state. A curious observer of the development said, “Presence of so many officials from intelligence bureau at one event shows the level of seriousness the present political dispensation is giving to religious issues specially connected with Dalits.” Police officials estimated that around 65,000 people participated in the event.
