Afghanistan FM Muttaqi Urges US-India Talks to Unlock Chabahar Route, Sends Firm Message on Bagram

Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi emphasized the strategic importance of India-Afghanistan trade via the Chabahar route and called for coordinated talks with the United States to remove obstacles, including sanctions. Speaking in Delhi, Muttaqi highlighted that all trade routes should remain open for regional commerce to thrive, underlining that closures negatively impact bilateral trade. He stressed that close cooperation between India and the US is essential to fully utilize Chabahar as a gateway for Afghan trade. While discussing regional peace, Muttaqi noted that Afghanistan has maintained stability over the last four years, with no reported incidents in the past eight months, adding that countries focusing on internal peace can foster broader regional stability.
