Soon after the Mahagathbandhan announced RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav as its CM face and VIP chief Mukesh Sahani as the Deputy CM face, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad trained his guns on the RJD chairman.
Addressing Tejashwi’s comment at the conference earlier in the day on not tolerating corruption, Prasad said, “The court examined all the matters and declared that this (IRCTC hotels corruption case) is a serious case of corruption and 420. Tejashwi Yadav, you are accused under Section 420 of the IPC. The sentence is seven years. People of Bihar, be careful. These 2.6 crore households of Bihar, to whom they are talking about giving permanent jobs, their (RJD) background is such that it will make your whole life miserable. None of their work is done without corruption, and I am giving proof of all this.”
He further said: “The people of Bihar are well aware of who has contributed to Bihar’s development. PM Modi and Nitish Kumar will develop Bihar. This is the double-engine government.”
This was in direct response to Tejashwi’s address at the MGB conference today where he said, “We will work together to kick out NDA’s double engine government, whose one engine is corruption and other engine is crime.”
Ravi Shankar Prasad also slammed the poll promises made by the Mahagathbandhan, questioning Tejashwi’s intent to hand out government jobs to one person in each household. He added, “Tejashwi is making unrealistic claims to take credit for Jeevika Didi scheme, a brainchild of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar.”
Before the Mahagathbandhan presser began, the BJP had mocked Congress and RJD, pointing at “open infighting” among within the “grand alliance” after Tejashwi Yadav, and not Rahul Gandhi, featured on the poster of the media briefing. Boards and posters put up at the venue of Mahagathbandhan press conference featured photos of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.
Prasad further said, “Today we saw that Rahul Gandhi’s photo was missing from that press conference. Every party’s symbol was there, but Rahul Gandhi’s photo was missing. What kind of alliance is this that there are 243 seats and they are contesting elections on 255 seats,” he asked.
