Jharkhand Assembly Election 2019 date, Schedule Highlights: Jharkhand will go to polls in a total of five phases starting from November 30, the Election Commission of India announced Friday. The term of the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly is set to end on January 5 next year.
The state is currently under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rule with Raghubar Das serving as Chief Minister for a five-year term. In the 2014 Assembly elections, the BJP bagged bagged 37 seats and formed the government with alliance partner All Jharkhand Students’ Union that won five seats. Six MLAs of former CM Babulal Marandi’s party Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) also joined the saffron party soon after the elections
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) earlier told The Indian Express that his party will tie up with the Congress for the Assembly polls. The JMM has 19 MLAs while Congress has eight legislators in the current Assembly.
Last week, the Assembly election results were declared in Haryana and Maharashtra. While the BJP stitched a post-poll alliance with the Dushyant Chautala-led Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) to form the government in Haryana, Maharashtra is still witnessing a power-sharing tussle between the BJP and the Shiv Sena. Om Mathur, In-charge Jharkhand BJP said his party has been preparing for the elections since last one year. "I, myself, have analysed all the booth level activities and preparations as well. We will definitely cross 65 seats here," he said. (ANI)
RPN Singh, in-charge Jharkhand Congress, said the party welcomes the elections in the state. However, he added that it is unfortunate that the elections will be held in five phases. "Congress had asked EC that elections should be held in one phase in Jharkhand," he said. (ANI)

Jharkhand to go to polls in five phases from November 30. A total of 13 assembly constituencies will go to polls in the first phase on November 30.
Voting for the second phase will be held on December 7 and will include 20 assembly constituencies. The third and the fourth phase of elections will include 17 and 15 assembly constituencies and will be held on December 12 and 16 respectively.
The elections will conclude with 16 constituencies going to polls on December 20. The counting will be held on December 23.

Arora assured proper transport facilities on the polling day in Jharkhand. A total of 81 assembly seats will go to the polls in December.
According to Arora, 13 of the state's districts are Maoist affected. He added that a team from the poll panel has visited Jharkhand and Bengal.

When asked about his understanding of the political climate in Jharkhand after the results in Maharashtra and Haryana, CM Das said, "One cannot compare one state with the other. These states do not have 26 per cent tribals. We will aim high. We will definitely win 65 plus seats in the Assembly polls." Read more here
