Inauguration Day 2025: Trump’s inaugural committee raises $170 million in donations

Donations to Trump during his first inauguration in 2016 had also set a record when he was able to pull in $106 million, AP reported.

US President-elect Donald Trump has raised more than $170 million for the upcoming Inauguration Day on January 20 as tech entrepreneurs and top donors have reportedly bankrolled the Republican leader’s ceremony with large cheques.

According to a person quoted by the Associated Press, private donations were being collected by the inaugural committee and it was confirmed.

The person further stated that Trump’s inaugural committee is poised to collect a total of more than $200 million by the end of the efforts. The committee is yet to detail about its plans as to how it will spend these donations.

According to an AP report, the private donations are majorly used to pay for the events surrounding the Inauguration Day like the Swearing-in-ceremony or the oath of office, along with a parade and glitzy inaugural balls.

The leftover money from the donations will be reportedly utilised in preparing a Trump’s Presidential library, the report added.

Jeff Bezos founded Amazon and Mark Zuckerberg led Meta , which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, have said that they were each planning to donate $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also said he was planning to make a $1 million personal donation.

As per the Federal Election Commission’s records, President Joe Biden’s inaugural committee had raised $62 million when he had defeated Trump in the 2020 presidential election.

Trump is all set to return to the White House on January 20, when the inauguration takes place and incumbent President Joe Biden vacates the White House for the Republican leader.
