In a scathing attack against US Vice President Kamala Harris, world’s richest person Elon Musk on Monday accused her of “lying” against former President Donald Trump on X.
In an X post, the 59-year-old Vice President alleged that if ex-president Trump returns to helm the state of affairs in the US, he would impose a nationwide anti-abortion law.
The debate of abortion in the US reignited since the country’s Supreme Court overturned the Roe vs Wade (1973) judgment in 2022 and ruled that there was no longer a federal constitutional right to an abortion.
Kamala Harris in the X post had said, “Donald Trump would ban abortion nationwide. President Joe Biden and I will do everything in our power to stop him and restore women’s reproductive freedom.”
Elon Musk, who owns the micro-blogging platform X, lashed out at Vice President Harris for spreading lies about Donald Trump’s approach toward abortion. Musk, while defending Trump posted, “When will politicians, or at least the intern who runs their account, learn that lying on this platform doesn’t work anymore?”
A Community Note flag appeared beneath the post of VP Kamala Harris on X which said that “President Trump has repeatedly said he will not sign a national abortion ban”. And supporting the statement, multiple news reports were attached.
Musk even replied to Harris’ post saying, “Trump clearly said he would not do so in the debate.” He was referring to the recently held presidential debate of Donald Trump and President Joe Biden on CNN.
US elections are due in November and post the presidential debate, a section of Democrats have been in a huddle about their choice of candidate since the debacle of Joe Biden and many are even considering former President Barack Obama’s wife and former First Lady Michelle Obama for the job.
