After Biden, Trump revokes security clearances for Antony Blinken, Jake Sullivan

The decision comes a day after President Trump stripped the security clearance of former President Joe Biden which would stop his access to daily intelligence briefings.

In another jolt to former US President Joe Biden’s previous team, the Republican President Donald Trump’s administration has revoked the security clearances for former secretary of state Antony Blinken and former national security adviser Jake Sullivan, the White House officials said on Saturday.

The White House officials further informed that security clearances for Biden’s Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco was also revoked. Lisa helped coordinate the Department of Justice’s response to the January 6, 2021 attacks on the US Capitol in which Trump was accused of allegedly inciting the mob through his speech.

The officials added that the Trump administration has also revoked the security clearances of New York Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg as they led cases against the Republican president.

Earlier, in a post on Truth Social, Trump had said “There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information. Therefore, we are immediately revoking Joe Biden’s Security Clearances, and stopping his daily Intelligence Briefings.”

Trump reportedly said that former Secretary of State Antony Blinken is a “bad guy” and said to take away his passes. “This is to take away every right they have [revoking security clearances] including they can’t go into [federal] buildings,” Trump said as per New York Post.

The measure to revoke the security clearances comes as President Trump continues his crackdown on his most vocal critics.
