In Pune, schools remained closed due to heavy rain on Friday. Close to 17 people were killed in rain-related incidents in the city on Thursday and about 3,00 people were evacuated. IMD issued a yellow alert for Himachal Pradesh for Friday and Saturday. Kangra and Sirmour districts in the state experienced heavy showers.
Hyderabad was lashed with heavy rains since late Thursday. Around 200 houses in the city were inundated after a wall connected to Hussain Sagar Lake partially collapsed due to rain. Low-lying areas of the city were waterlogged.
Over 40 people died in rain-related incidents, majority of them in Uttar Pradesh, while incessant rainfall in Bihar left the streets of state capital Patna and other areas waterlogged and residences of at least two ministers marooned.
As many as 35 people lost their lives in Uttar Pradesh since Friday, the state government said. While 25 of them died on Saturday, 10 lost their lives on Friday. Heavy rain threw normal life out of gear in several parts of Bihar on Saturday, with disruption of rail traffic at a few places and submerging of major localities of state capital Patna.
Rainwater gushed into the premises of the Nalanda Medical College Hospital, the second largest healthcare unit in the city, as also the Gardanibagh hospital, inconveniencing both patients and employees.
Residences of Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar and other senior politicians were also submerged.
"Localities like Rajendra Nagar and S K Puri are the worst affected. But the good news is the Ganga has shown a receding trend. It had crossed the danger mark around a week ago," District Magistrate Kumar Ravi was quoted saying by news agency PTI.
Heavy rainfall was witnessed in Patna on Saturday, causing a traffic jam and water-logging in several parts of the city. According to the IMD, the city is likely to receive moderate rainfall accompanied by a thunderstorm in the next coming two days.

The India Meteorological Department on Saturday forecast heavy to very heavy showers in parts of north Gujarat and the state's Saurashtra-Kutch belt over the weekend.
Parts of south Gujarat and Saurashtra regions experienced heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours, said officials.
According to IMD officials, the cyclonic circulation that has formed over Saurashtra and Kutch and adjoining areas of northeast Arabian Sea is likely to get more marked in the next 48 hours, news agency PTI reported.
Normal life was disrupted in Jammu on Saturday morning as heavy rains lashed wide parts of the Jammu province, causing waterlogging and traffic jams at many places in the city.
However, there was no report of any major damage in the rains which came as a relief to the people who were experiencing humid conditions over the past couple of days.
