Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Buxar as part of his ‘Pragati Yatra’ and inaugurated various developmental projects on Saturday.

However, shortly after the Janata Dal (United) chief left the district guest house, local residents rushed in and grabbed hundreds of flower pots that the administration had placed along the road outside for the occasion, an NDTV report said.

All the pots were taken away before the authorities could stop the people. A video of the incident has also gone viral across social media platforms, triggering criticism.

The footage shows men, women and children rushing towards the flower pots, grabbing whatever they could, and fleeing. Some children can even be seen carrying the pots on their heads.

The video ignited backlash online, with one internet user saying, “Really difficult to deal with this kind of mindset.” Another commented, “The reason why the pens are tied with strings in banks, the water mugs are chained in the toilets on trains.”

“The same happened in Delhi when the G20 summit with some of them coming in Scorpio and Fortuner at night to take the pots. This is the Indian public,” a third user chimed in. “This is what happens when ppl are used to freebies & reservations forever. They lose their morality & resort to hooliganism,” another user reacted.

In 2023, a viral video showed two men stealing flower pots placed by the authorities as part of beautification works ahead of the G20 meeting in Gurgaon. A property dealer was arrested after the Urban Environment Division of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) filed a police complaint.
