Getting a toddler to follow any instruction is difficult, let alone asking them to stay put for a formal photograph. However, now a trick that allows people to take standard passport photos of toddlers is winning over the internet.

On Friday, Twitter user Yair Menchel (@yairmenchel) shared a photo that showed a person covered in a white sheet and sitting on a chair while holding a baby. The tweet explained that the person resorted to the odd trick in a bid to take their child’s passport photo.

The picture soon went viral with over 91,000 likes. Commenting on it, many people recalled doing the same thing years ago with their young kids.

A Twitter user wrote, “My daughter is now in her 20s, but I recall having to do something similar for her passport photo when she was less than 1 year old!”.

Another person wrote, “Dam I wish I would have thought of that 20yrs ago. Great idea. I hide behind a chair and held my daughter through the holes in back of chair. Good job Dad.”

Some professionals noted that the method shown in the tweet is actually a staple trick to take a baby’s formal picture. Echoing this view, a Twitter user wrote, “I do this for a living. We literally keep a clean white blanket in our locker of stuff to drape on the parent so they can hold their kid in their lap, or we can even photograph them in their car carrier. It’s standard.”
