Amid the Nepal protests, over 100 passengers aboard a SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Kathmandu were left inside the aircraft for hours with air conditioning on Thursday, before eventually being asked to deplane, ANI reported.

According to the report, SpiceJet flight SG41 was originally scheduled to depart at 8.10 am, but the departure was first pushed to 9.30 am. After a long wait on board with non-functional air conditioning, the aircraft briefly began taxiing without any communication from the crew, only to return to the parking bay shortly after.

Passengers were left seated in the sweltering cabin for over an hour before being informed of a “technical issue,” which the crew cited as the reason for the delay. Following this, passengers were deboarded and directed to wait in a bus near the parking area, the ANI report said.

Sharing the video, ANI wrote, “SpiceJet passengers travelling from Delhi to Kathmandu (SG 41) had to wait inside an aircraft without air conditioning (AC). The passengers have disembarked from the aircraft. Further details awaited. According to the airline: Aircraft witnessed a technical snag causing the delay. The airline is trying to resolve the issue.”

In a statement, SpiceJet confirmed the delay, saying, “The aircraft experienced a technical snag, causing the delay. The airline is trying to resolve the issue.”

This disruption comes just days after SpiceJet cancelled all flights to and from Kathmandu for September 10, citing unrest in Nepal. In a travel advisory, the airline wrote, “#TravelAdvisory: Due to the prevailing situation in Kathmandu, our flights To/From Kathmandu stand cancelled for 10th Sep’25. The information will be communicated to all the passengers via SMS/Email on their registered contact details.
