Twitterati lashes out at Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore for ‘no black money in film industry’ comment

Twitter doesn't seem as confident as Union minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, when he said the film industry was devoid of any black money transactions within it.

When PM Narendra Modi announced the demonetisation of old high-value currency notes on November 8, he asserted that the move is to weed out black money hoarding, corruption, terrorism and other illegal activities. The Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, however, seemed positive that in the film industry at least, there is no black money “in this age”. The minister was speaking at the International Film Festival of India in Goa recently.

According to a PTI report, Rathore said the film industry has been transacting through cheques and money loaned from banks and that there is transparency in film funding now.

Twitterati, however, did not seem as positive as the minister when he said the industry had no black money flow within it. Soon enough, the micro-blogging site was flooded with reactions calling out Rathore for his statement. Many users took on a sarcastic tone and said how saying there is no black money in the film industry was just like saying there is no casting couch either.

Evidently in disbelief after what the minister said, this is what a user said : “Entire world admits am Mrs Clooney”. While others called him “dumb”, some wondered why hasn’t Kejriwal reacted to his remark yet.
