A pit bull pet dog at a house in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi is being hailed a hero by social media users for saving children from a King Cobra that slithered into the garden. According to the viral post, the incident occurred in Jhansi’s Shiv Ganesh colony.
In a video shared by an X handle, the pit bull can be seen aggressively fighting the King Cobra. The dog held the cobra in its jaws for a while. Later, it dropped the lifeless reptile.

The pit bull, Jenny, belongs to Punjab Singh and has killed around eight to 10 snakes till date, NDTV reported. The recent incident took place when Singh was not at home, and his son and other children were playing in the garden. “The house help’s children were playing when a black snake appeared. The children screamed and the snake turned to flee. That’s when our pit bull noticed it, broke free from its leash and attacked the cobra, killing it,” NDTV quoted Singh as saying.
A similar incident happened in 2019 when a dog saved his owner from a cobra and died later. The incident happened near Kumbakonam in the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu when the dog’s owner went for a morning walk to his agriculture fields with it. According to reports, the dog spotted a cobra crawling towards them and began fighting it. He bit off the hood of the reptile and passed away later.
