Auto-rickshaw drivers from Bengaluru seem to be making headlines one way or the other. From turning office chairs into makeshift seats to using pamphlets to help passengers practise Kannada, the city’s rickshaw drivers always have something quirky up their sleeve.
The latest viral sensation is an auto-rickshaw driver who has turned his vehicle into a mini, mobile library, offering books to passengers for free. Spotted by a local professional during a regular commute, the auto is filled with titles ranging from Why Divorce? to God Loves You, inviting passengers to read philosophical and spiritual books. A sign inside the auto reads, “Free for all, take if you wish.”
Ravilla Lokesh, a LinkedIn user, shared a picture of this unique “mini-library on wheels” saying, “Only in Bengaluru can you find life advice and philosophical wisdom handed out for free… in an autorickshaw.”

In response to Lokesh’s post, another LinkedIn user commented, “Bengaluru’s vibes are wild. An auto driver giving life lessons? Classic. I’d say that’s pure Bengaluru spirit right there. What about those random chai stalls serving wisdom too, huh?.”
A couple of weeks ago, another auto-rickshaw driver in Bengaluru––Samuel Christy––became an online sensation after a passenger posted a photo of an inspiring message in his auto on Reddit. The message, printed and stuck behind the driver’s seat, said: “Hi passenger, my name is Samuel Christy. I’m a graduate who is looking to raise funds for my startup business idea. If you’re interested, please talk to me.”
Yet another Peak Bengaluru moment!
