An Uber customer Deepak Tenguriya has said he received a Rs 7.66 crore bill after he hailed an auto-rickshaw from the company’s app last Friday. Tenguriya, a Noida resident who expected a fare of just Rs 62, received the bill even before the driver ended the ride.

The now-viral video was shared by Tenguriya’s friend Ashish Mishra on X. The video opens with the friends discussing the hefty bill Tenugirya received. When Mishra asks him “How much is your bill worth?”, Tenguriya replies saying, “Rs 7,66,83,762.”

He also mentions that no GST charge was included in the bill. His friend jokes and says “Kahan se aa raha hai yeh bill? Mangal se! (Is this bill coming from Mars?) In the video, Tenguriya shows he was charged Rs 1,67,74,647 as “Trip fare”, while Rs 5,99,09189, was the waiting time fee and Rs 75 was deducted as a promotion fee.

Since the video was posted, it garnered over 72,000 views and several reactions on the platform. “Same happened with Ola I been to Delhi to Meerut charges hardly 2100 he told me 17000 i was shocked. what ur saying actually he dint update his back kms….but we gave him 2100,” a user shared. “@Uber_India

“Happened with me as well on same day, just that bill was little lesser ( in Pune),” the third user shared the screenshot.

In January, an Uber cab driver in Bengaluru duped passengers by showing a fake screenshot of Rs 5,194 on his phone. The scam came to light after a customer filed a complaint against the cab driver when he was asked to pay Rs 5,194 from terminal 1 of Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) to his home in Tavarekere.

The Uber app showed the total fare was Rs 194. However, after arriving at the destination, the driver tried to dupe the traveller with a fake screenshot.
