In a remarkable act of courage and compassion, a man at Mumbai’s Ram Mandir Railway Station helped a woman deliver her baby on the platform early Thursday morning — guided only by a doctor over a video call.

Musician Manjeet Dhillon, who witnessed the emotional scene, shared the story on Instagram along with a video. According to him, the incident unfolded around 1 am, when a pregnant woman travelling by train suddenly went into labour. Realising the urgency, a passenger named Vikas Bendre pulled the emergency chain as the train reached Ram Mandir Station.

Dhillon recalled the tense moment, writing, “I still get chills saying this. The woman’s baby was halfway out, half inside and half outside. At that very moment, it truly felt like God had sent this brother there for a reason.”

With no ambulance or medical staff in sight, Bendre quickly reached out to his friend, Dr Devika Deshmukh, who guided him step-by-step through a video call. Following her instructions, he managed to deliver the baby safely right there on the platform.

Dhillon also revealed that the woman’s family had earlier tried to get her admitted to a hospital, but were reportedly turned away, forcing them to continue their journey by train.

Praising Bendre’s presence of mind and empathy, Dhillon wrote, “That night, this man became the reason two lives were saved. Many people were just watching and walking away, but we couldn’t because we are human. If you ever get a chance to help someone, take it as a sign from God and do it, my friends.”

Both the mother and newborn were later taken to a hospital, where they were declared healthy and safe.
