Mumbai recently experienced severe waterlogging due to torrential rain, which brought traffic to a standstill and caused massive congestion. While several social media users continue to criticise the authorities for poor road maintenance during the monsoon, a man has grabbed attention with claims that Mumbai surpasses Singapore when it comes to roads, metro systems, public gardens, and CCTV surveillance.

Giving a glimpse of a public bus in Singapore, the X handle @marinebharat wrote, “After personal experience I am saying this that Mumbai Infrastructure is better than Singapore. Be it Roads, Metro. Their Gardens are too good! CCTV infra is way way better being part of Greater China. Also I do not have low self esteem and I don’t get easily swayed. Our is simply better! The video got over a lakh views, sparking a debate over development in Mumbai. “Totally agree with your “unbiased” comparison! Mumbai’s pothole adventure is unmatched, and our metro is practically a thrill ride. Why settle for Singapore’s boring smooth roads, peaceful gardens, and efficient CCTV coverage? Real character is dodging traffic and feeling like you’re in an action movie just crossing the street here. Nothing beats the Mumbai experience!” a user wrote.

“True. We just need more of it. The good infra, metro, grade A office space part of Mumbai is much smaller than Singapore and Mumbai itself is much larger,” another user commented. “Just 1 bus? Bombay drowns in Monsoon every year my friend. there’s zero comparison. Every year Mumbai drowns in floods. They don’t have decent roads, there’s potholes in every lane, road, crossings because contracts are given based on bribes,” a third user reacted.

Heavy showers continued in Mumbai for the second day in a row, with the Colaba coastal observatory recording 88.2 mm of rainfall from Sunday to Monday morning. This led to waterlogging and traffic disruptions across the city. At 8.30 am, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red nowcast warning for Mumbai, valid for the next three hours.
