The Indian team secured a place in the semi-finals of the Women’s World T20 with a 52-run win over Ireland, thanks in part, to a stellar effort by Mithali Raj. But it wasn’t just another half-century by Raj that got everyone talking. With her innings on Thursday, Raj went on to become the highest run-getter in T20Is, surpassing Rohit Sharma and even Indian men’s team captain Virat Kohli.
With 2283 T20I runs so far, the 35-year-old is now ahead of Sharma and Kohli, who have scored 2207 and 2102 runs in T20Is respectively.
As the news spread, ecstatic fans cheered for Raj.
