Reshma Sebastian, a social media influencer, who was mistaken for deceased soldier Captain Anshuman Singh’s widow Smriti Singh, revealed that she was brutally trolled on social media. Singh recently received the Kirti Chakra awarded to her husband posthumously.
The fashion influencer issued a clarification, requesting social media users to refrain from hate comments. “This is not Smriti Singh’s (widow of Indian Army soldier Capt Anshuman Singh) page/ig account. Read the profile details and bio first. Please refrain from spreading false information and hate comments,” the note read.
“There is a limit..,” Sebastian captioned the post.

Sebastian also shared a screengrab of a user’s comment on her Facebook profile and warned of legal action. “This is absurd! Using my identity to spread false information about Smriti Singh. We are going ahead with legal actions,” the story read.
Captain Anshuman Singh lost his life in a fire accident in an Indian Army ammunition dump at Siachen. According to reports, the fire spread to a medical investigation shelter and he lost his life while trying to retrieve life-saving medicines.
On July 5, President Droupadi Murmu honoured the soldier with Kirti Chakra, India’s second-highest peacetime gallantry award, posthumously. “President Droupadi Murmu conferred Kirti Chakra upon Captain Anshuman Singh, The Army Medical Corps, 26th Battalion The Punjab Regiment, posthumously. Disregarding his safety, he exhibited exceptional bravery and resolve to rescue many people in a major fire incident,” the Rashtrapati Bhavan wrote on X.
After the video of Smriti Singh sharing memories of her late husband took over social media, the parents of Captain Singh alleged that their daughter-in-law left with their son’s medal. Smriti and Anshuman’s mother, Manju Singh, had accepted the medal.
