Director Nag Ashwin’s highly-anticipated sci-fi magnum opus Kalki 2898 AD hit the silver screen on June 27. Starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan in key roles, the movie, based on Mahabharata has Bachchan playing Ashwatthama, Dronacharya’s son. The film’s reviews from critics and reactions from audiences have set the Internet abuzz.

However, a vox pop of two women sharing their thoughts on the film has stood out. In the video, the woman taking the interview asks, “Kaha jaa raha hai ki yeh kuch Hindu granth se related hai. Toh yeh kuch samajh mein aaya? (It is being said that the movie is related to a Hindu scripture. Did you understand the concept?)”

Responding to the question, one of the women mistakes “Ashwagandha,” an Ayurvedic herb, for “Ashwatthama,” and says, “Haan, history hai. Mahabharata hai. Aur ‘Ashwagandha’ ka pura concept hai. Wo sab hai. (Yes, it has history, instances from Mahabharata, and the concept of ‘Ashwagandha’. It’s there.)”

Sharing the video, an X user wrote, “Ashwagandha, mulethi, tulsi, ilachi sab hai (Ashwagandha, licorice, basil, cardamom, it has everything).”
