A dramatic brawl broke out at Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station, one of the capital’s busiest hubs, when two groups of the Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) catering staff turned on each other in full public view. The incident, caught on camera, has since gone viral on social media.

The clip shows uniformed employees, reportedly part of the catering team serving on a Vande Bharat Express, trading punches, kicks, and even hurling dustbins at one another. What began as a heated exchange quickly escalated when one worker attacked another with a dustbin, prompting others to join in. Soon, the scuffle turned into an all-out melee, with some participants seen using their belts as weapons.

Startled passengers and onlookers watched as chaos unfolded on the platform before railway porters and police officers stepped in to separate the clashing workers and restore order.

Following the video’s circulation, the Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) issued a statement confirming that the staff involved had been detained by the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

“The matter has been viewed very seriously,” the corporation said in a post on X. “Four staff of service provider have been detained by RPF authorities for further investigation. All four staff’s ID cards have been deactivated and they have been derostered. A show cause notice for termination of contract has been issued to service provider and a hefty penalty of Rs 5 lakh has been imposed.”

Police later clarified that the altercation stemmed from a trivial disagreement. “Yesterday, an incident of fight took place between pantry assistants in Khajuraho Vande Bharat Express. The issue was regarding placing a water box inside the train,” DCP (South East) Hemant Tiwari told The Indian Express. “A verbal argument along with incident of fight and affray took place between both parties. However, no formal complaint was made by any party, and the matter was mutually resolved in writing.”

The scuffle reportedly erupted on Platform No. 7, where two employees began arguing over who would carry the water boxes onboard. Within moments, colleagues from both sides jumped in, turning the disagreement into a full-blown physical clash that is now making headlines online.
