It is astonishing to think of someone living without electricity at their home after more than 75 years of independence. However, for 70-year-old Noor Jahan from Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr, electricity was still a pipe dream until an IPS officer came to her help.
Anukriti Sharma, a 2020-batch IPS officer of UP cadre, shared a heart-warming video of the moment they brought electricity to the elderly woman’s house. The woman’s face lit up as electricity came to her humble dwelling and a bulb turned on. The police personnel present in her home were all smiles as well. They also turned on a fan and explained to her how to use it by plugging it into a socket. Noor Jahan hugged the IPS officer and was also given sweets by the police personnel.
Sharma called it the “Swades moment of her life”. She wrote as the caption, “Swades moment of my life. Getting electricity connection to Noorjahan aunty’s house literally felt lyk bringing light into her life. The smile on her face ws immensely satisfying.Thank u SHO Jitendra ji & the entire team 4 all da support.”
