Experiencing the bright Aurora Borealis, also known as the northern lights, is one of the most sought-after travel goals in the world. People travel hundreds of miles to places like Alaska, Iceland, Norway, and Greenland to watch the green, blue, and purple lights emerge across the sky.
Recently, a group of travellers was lucky to witness a stunning display of northern lights in Alaska. They marked the moment by joyfully doing Garba, a folk dance from Gujarat, as the northern lights shined above them.
This moment was caught on camera and shared on Instagram by a content creator who goes by the username @the_binary_traveller on March 26.
While sharing the video, @the_binary_traveller wrote, “Garba is as important as Northern Lights 😌 #gujju #northernlights #relatable #funny #garba #reelsviral #aurora #garbalover #gujarati #alaska #fairbanks #travelreels”. So far the video has gathered over 59,000 likes.
Commenting on it, a Twitter user wrote, “Best thing on internet today.🤣❤️”. Another person said, “Best garba location… Plus it will keep you warm.”
The best time to catch the northern lights in the arctic areas is between late September to early April.
In February this year, a newly engaged couple were able to see the northern lights on their flight back to Manchester from Reykjavik after their pilot did a special 360-degree turn in the sky so that the passengers could see the emerging northern lights through their plane window.
