Former India bowler Harbhajan Singh has hit back at an Indian fan who called Hindi cricket commentary one of the “most cringeworthy things” on the earth, accusing him of being ashamed of his language.
The fan commented on a photo shared by the cricketer in which he posed outside a hotel in Dubai with the caption “Jeet ka Jashn” (celebration of victory), a day after India beat Pakistan in a Champions Trophy match. “Hindi commentary can rank among the most cringeworthy things on this beautiful blue planet,” he wrote.
After the comment came to light, Singh responded sharply, “Wah Angrej ki aulaad. Shame on you Apni भाषा bolne aur sun k fakr mehsoos hona chahiye,” he wrote.

With over a million views, the post has ignited a flurry of reactions on X. Several users backed the fan, with one saying, “He is talking about the quality of commentators doing Hindi commentary. And he is not talking about Hindi Language. There is a big difference.” Another user commented, “No one is criticising the language. Hindi commentators are cringy and don’t offer valuable insights, nor are they neutral.”
“It’s not about the language, it’s about the quality. People want to listen to neutral commentary. These people in the Hindi commentary (nothing about the language but the people) don’t know anything. Don’t do any analysis. They are biased as well,” a third user reacted.
On February 23, India clashed with Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy match held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and won by six wickets.
