A bride in Delhi recently ignited a social media debate after she gave a one-star Google review to a wedding photography company for requesting food during her high-end wedding, where the cost per guest was Rs 6,000.

The bride had approached We Don’t Say Cheese (WDSC) to photograph her upcoming wedding. But things soured after the team requested access to food during the event. The bride described their request as “unreasonable,” stating that she had offered to arrange the meals from an outside vendor instead. She objected to the team’s demand for individual one-hour meal breaks and full advance payment.

“I decided I couldn’t work with vendors who were this rigid,” she wrote in her public review. The bride also alleged that WDSC stopped responding to her messages after the disagreement.

In response, Richa Oberoi, the business head of WDSC, shared a detailed post on Google and social media, defending the team’s position. She emphasised the demanding nature of wedding shoots.

“Our crew works 12 to 15 hours straight — they need food to function. This is not about fine dining. This is about basic dignity. We simply asked not to be treated as invisible labour,” she wrote.

“We will always say no to couples who treat us this way. Your wedding may be the most important day of your life, but that does not give you the right to strip others of basic humanity while they work to make it unforgettable for you,” she added.

The post quickly gained traction, leading to various responses from users. Some criticized the photography company for charging a premium price for food. “Hello ! You’re the hired help. Some people may invite you to partake and some may not. But the hosts decide that. If you’ve been doing this 10 years how difficult was it to order some rolls or sandwiches to the venue, for your people? You failed to make those arrangements,” a user wrote.

Another user described it as shameful and inhumane. “People are spending millions of rupees on a single wedding, and they bother by 9-10 people meal who are constantly working on their legs 12-16 hours a day. Nasty,” the user commented. “So, being a professional instead of forcing people to feed at premium cost, you could have discussed the demand and condition of your work before hand so that the client could have arranged meals for you yes if the meal is 6k each no one owes the same meal to workers,” a third user reacted.
