A Delhi couple’s haldi ceremony turned into a harrowing experience when hydrogen balloons arranged for their entrance exploded, leaving both the bride and groom with burn injuries. The incident came to light after the couple posted a video on Instagram, but they subsequently deleted it due to backlash.
In the now-viral video, the couple walks in surrounded by hydrogen balloons when someone unintentionally aims one of the colour guns upward. The heat from the gun reacts with the balloons, triggering a small blast.
“We never imagined the most special day of our lives would take such a drastic turn,” the couple wrote, as reported by HT.
“We’re sharing this reel to create awareness about how dangerous these ‘viral ideas’ can turn when safety is compromised,” they added.
According to their caption, the bride, Tanyaa, suffered burns to her face and back, while the groom, Kushagra, burned his fingers and back. Their hair was singed as well. “On a day we were supposed to look our best, we were instead layering concealer to hide injuries, chopping our burnt hair, and colouring it to mask the damage,” they shared.
The couple explained that the original plan was to release the hydrogen balloons first, followed by the colour guns during the entry. But “in the chaos of the moment, someone accidentally pointed a colour gun at the balloons.” However, the celebrations continued. “As they say, the show must go on. And it did. Despite the hiccups, we still managed to have the time of our lives at the varmala. It wasn’t perfect, but it was still the most beautiful day of our lives,” they wrote in the now-deleted post.
“We hope our experience becomes a reminder for everyone to exercise caution and prioritise safety over trends, no celebration is worth risking lives,” they said.

The video was shared across all social media platforms, igniting backlash. “That’s why you need intelligence for copying. Hope this serves as a lesson to other weak minds who get influenced by stupidity. Never play with chemicals or electricity or anything beyond your realm of understanding,” a user wrote. “Somebody used a sparkle gun behind, which ignited it. Such an unsafe toy to use in crowd. People who use it normally lack common sense,” another user commented.
“Skipped high school science. Hydrogen is highly flammable. Law requires Helium. An inert gas. But who cares? This is India,” a third user reacted.
