India emphatically beat Afghanistan by eight wickets in a group stage match at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday. The match was a treat for fans who turned out in large numbers to support the Men in Blue.

From witnessing Rohit Sharma’s blazing century to local boy Virat Kohli taking the team home, the match provided many moments to savour. However, a video of a fight that erupted between fans in the stands is going viral.

It is unclear what led to the escalation. The video shows a few men bashing up another as they engage in a heated argument. Another man is seen trying to diffuse the situation while no police personnel seem to be around. “Fans getting authentic Delhi experience,” a user, who posted the video on X, wrote as the caption.

Batting first, Afghanistan managed to make a respectable 272-8 on a flat track that didn’t offer much to bowlers. Hashmatullah Shahidi played a captain’s knock as he scored 80 off 88 balls and got support from Azmatullah Omarzai who made 62 off 69 balls. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of Indian bowlers as he took four wickets for 39 runs in 10 overs.

In reply, India raced to the target in only 35 overs as captain Rohit Sharma smashed the fastest century for India in a World Cup. Sharma reached his century in only 63 balls, breaking Kapil Dev’s record of 72 balls. Sharma now also holds the record for the most centuries in Cricket World Cups, in what is just his third World Cup. This is his seventh century in 19 World Cup innings. Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 55 along with Shreyas Iyer as India finished the match with eight wickets in hand.
