As torrential rain continues in parts of Gujarat, a man and his wife got stranded for two hours atop their submerged car after being swept away by a river in Sabarkantha district on Sunday. But what caught the internet’s attention was the couple relaxing on their car’s roof amid the severe flood.

In the viral clip, the man is seen trying to make calls from his mobile phone while the woman sits calmly in the submerged car, with only the roof visible. As the video progresses, the rescue team arrives at the location and saves the couple.

According to a report in The Economic Times, the couple’s car was swept 1.5 km away as the water level of the Karol River increased.

The report stated that the initial rescue attempts failed due to powerful currents. “A rescue team with a boat was on its way when we managed to bring them to safety,” Kamal Patel, a fire officer told the Economic Times. Sharing the video, an X handle wrote, “They are too relaxed. A rescue operation from Sabarkantha, Gujarat.”

“As we were crossing, the water rose, and the current became so strong that our car got swept away for about 1.5 km,” Suresh Mistry, the man stuck amid the flood, told The Economic Times.
