A street-side momo seller in Bengaluru has grabbed eyeballs and sparked a debate after claiming that he earns Rs 1 lakh a day, which amounts to around Rs 31 lakh a month, by selling momos. His remarks came to light through a viral reel by digital creator Cassy Pareira, who spent an entire day working as a helper at the popular stall, KK Momos and Soups in the city.
Pareira helped the seller with everything from frying and serving to handling the customers. In the now-deleted reel, the seller shared that the stall sold 118 plates in just one hour. By the end of the day, they had served around 950 plates, each priced at Rs 110, bringing the daily revenue close to Rs 1 lakh. Praising the vendor’s effort, Pareira said, “Through hard work and consistency, he earns in lakhs,” as reported by Deccan Herald.
The video went viral in no time, but neither the vendor nor Pareira disclosed the actual profit margins of the street-side business. As a result, while many viewers applauded the vendor’s entrepreneurial spirit, a sizeable section of social media expressed doubts over the claims, particularly raising questions about the math and the feasibility of recording such a profit.
Reacting to the report, one internet user wrote, “If he starts an MBA program called ‘Momo Management & Scaling 101,’ we’re enrolling instantly.” Another user commented, “Funny how people mistakes turn over with profit… And same techie will refuse to work 7 days and more than 50 hours. And then wondering how momo seller earn that much . Ask at least how much hard work he’s putting into it.. can he take the leave? Or work from home?”
“This shows the bad situation of the education system & educated person of India,” a third user reacted.
