A video of a chain snatcher fearlessly targeting a woman at a restaurant in broad daylight is doing rounds on the Internet. According to reports, the incident happened at an eatery on Tahseel Camp Road in Haryana’s Panipat.
The viral CCTV footage shows the man, wearing a helmet, standing inside the eatery under the pretense of collecting a food order. As the video progresses, one can see him snatching the chain from a woman having pizza with her friends.
After the snatcher escapes, a staff member can be seen coming out of the kitchen area. According to the timestamp in the footage, the incident took place at around 3:40 pm on June 8.
Sharing the video on X, journalist Sanjay Tripathi wrote, “Watch the audacity of a chain snatcher inside a restaurant in Panipat, Haryana.”

With over 2,74,000 views, the video amassed several reactions. One X user commented, “Hotel Management and the customers should have been careful and vigilant when they saw someone with helmet for so long. That was a definite red flag.” Another user wrote, “This man was standing so close to the table and was continuously looking at the woman for so long. Why didn’t the woman feel awkward? Usually women sense such things immediately.”
“Guy standing there that too with helmet for such a long time and those girls and hotel staff are so casual,” a third user said.
Last week, a video of a thief entering a restaurant in Rajasthan and stealing a customer’s mobile phone emerged on social media. The viral video showed the thief sitting behind his target’s cubicle and maneuvering his hand inside the man’s pocket.
In another incident, Lucknow cops nabbed a thief who was caught sleeping in an air conditioned room after theft in an empty house.
