BJP’s spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill blasted Air India over poor service and “pathetic” on-ground support staff. In a sarcastic note, Shergill claimed Air India would be ahead in every category had there been an “Oscar equivalent” for the “worst airlines”.

“If there was an Oscar equivalent for WORST AIRLINES @airindia would win hands down in every category — Broken Seats, Worst Staff, Pathetic “on Ground” Support Staff, Give two hoots attitude about customer service ! Flying Air India is not a pleasant experience but today broke all records!” Shergill wrote on X.

Soon after the post gained traction, Air India issued an apology. “Dear Mr. Shergill, we apologise for the inconvenience caused. Kindly share the travel details with us via DM. We’ll get in touch with you,” the airline wrote.

Responding to Shergill’s X post, many other users shared similar experiences. “They charged me for the business and offered me economy,” said a user. Another user commented, “I agree. Despite takeover by Tata, the horrible staff remains the same. They think that they still work for the government. Their behaviour towards fliers is the worst ever seen.”

Shergill’s post comes four days after Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan shared his experience with Air India, revealing that he was assigned a broken seat on flight AI436, from Bhopal to Delhi. In a post on X, he described how he had booked a ticket and was allocated seat 8C that was broken and sunken.

Chouhan also shared that when he inquired with the airline staff about why such a seat was given to him, they explained that management had already been informed about the issue, that there were instructions that the seat should not be sold, and that a thorough probe will be conducted to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.
